MY STORY

Patrick Stump has always loved writing, and found it was the best way he could communicate as a child. As a teenager, his first big leap that led him to where he is today was attending Second City summer camps, where he learned to write sketches, stand-up material, and improvise. From there, Patrick enrolled at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in the Media and Cinema Studies major. It was there that he knew he was a writer, which led him to the immersive writing program at DePaul University. While at DePaul, Patrick created an immense portfolio of writing material, which is mostly but not limited to Comedy.

My portfolio reflects how far I have come in the last few years. I didn’t know I wanted to be a writer until I was a freshman in college at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, so it was then that I began writing regularly. It wasn’t until I transferred to DePaul University in 2019 that I began writing weekly, so the majority of my portfolio is material I have written for DePaul, or while I was in attendance at DePaul University in my free time. The more humanitarian, existential scripts are ones that I have developed since college.

I have a lot of sketches in my portfolio that show who I am and where I can go as a writer. My humor has become more thoughtful and deeper-in-meaning over the years, which reflects what kind of material I want to be writing in the future as a creator.

I continue to find my storytelling voice the more that I mature and the more that I write. I love making others laugh and smile with the material and stories that I create. This said, it is important to find deeper meaning in one's passion, which is why I love to write stories that bring readers to their own moral compass, and what is truly important in life.
